A live-action Tangled movie is officially on the list of upcoming Disney movies, as it kicked off filming last month in Europe. Our new Rapunzel, Teagan Croft, has also officially been spotted galavanting around with her Flynn Rider, Milo Manheim. So, now that there are leaked set photos of Croft in full costume, of course Disney fans have a lot of thoughts about it.
Teagan Croft’s look as Rapunzel is all over Twitter. The actress, who was officially cast in the leading Tangled role alongside Manheim in January, was seen wearing her purple dress, puffy sleeves and all. From the photos, Rapunzel’s dress doesn’t have the pink in it from the animated film, and its corset doesn’t have ties down the front. The sleeves also look a bit more grungey than the animated version. The response online to the set photos is full of excitement, as you can see:

Look at all this love for Teagan Croft’s Rapunzel! We’ve been hearing about a live-action Tangled since 2024, but it’s finally happening, and the hype is real. Online commenters are really digging the dress overall, even though there are some notable changes from the original. A lot are calling the transfer from animation to live-action a bit uncanny.

The live-action Tangled, which could be part of the 2027 movie schedule, is following Disney’s remake of Moana, which has been a flop for Disney. The recent live-action film has only made $233.5 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $250 million. Even though audiences liked it a lot more than critics did, its commercial performance signals some fatigue for live-action remakes. But could Tangled be one of the hits for the Disney trend?
Teagan Croft is a 22-year-old Australian actress who’s relatively new to Hollywood. So far, she most notably portrayed Raven in Titans from 2018 to 2023. Her co-star Milo Manheim was in Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise, Season 27 of Dancing With The Stars, Thanksgiving and the Paramount+ series School Spirits. Overall, their casting has been received well, and it makes me optimistic about this live-action adaptation.
The live-action Tangled will also star Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel and Diego Luna in an undisclosed role. It’s being helmed by the director of The Greatest Showman, Michael Gracey, from a script by Do Revenge’s Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and newcomer Michael Montemayor. There’s no release date yet, but these set photos are really adding to the excitement for the film.
